News bites: To export or not to export

By Ben Geman - 11/16/12 07:23 AM ET

The Wall Street Journal explores the politically charged battle over whether U.S. officials should approve a slew of natural-gas export proposals.

The Washington Post unwraps, in great detail, tricky questions about climate change and Hurricane Sandy. Short version: It’s complicated.

Climate change didn’t cause Sandy. But it might have “been a performance enhancer, like a steroid,” and perhaps had a hand in pushing the storm into the coast. And rising sea levels worsened the flooding to some extent.

Reuters reports on the potential for Senate action on energy policy.

The Guardian reports that Russian state gas giant Gazprom is losing influence.
