News bites: Exxon Mobil sees US as net energy exporter by 2025

By Zack Colman - 12/11/12 09:16 AM ET

Exxon Mobil Corp. predicts increased oil-and-gas production, combined with greater efficiency, will make the U.S. a net energy exporter by 2025, Bloomberg reports.

Oil cartel OPEC has crude prices right where it wants them, but a battle is brewing on who will lead the group of Middle East oil producers, according to Reuters.

U.S. solar installations increased by 684 megawatts during the third quarter, a 44 percent jump compared to the previous year, Bloomberg notes.

The Associated Press takes a look at differing efforts in Colorado and Texas to control emissions from hydraulic fracturing.

Public health experts are beginning to factor climate change and associated weather extremes into planning, The New York Times reports.
