News bites: Railroads propel US oil boom, the latest on Chesapeake Energy, and more
The Associated Press looks at how oil is getting from booming wells in North Dakota and Montana to refineries.
“Energy companies behind the oil boom on the Northern Plains are increasingly turning to an industrial-age workhorse — the locomotive — to move their crude to refineries across the U.S., as plans for new pipelines stall and existing lines can't keep up with demand,” the news service reports.
The Wall Street Journal has the latest on a boardroom probe of Chesapeake Energy chief executive Aubrey McClendon.
The Associated Press reports that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is requiring state agencies to become more energy efficient.
