Republicans shake up Senate energy panel team
Senate Republicans are shuffling their Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee slate, adding a pair of freshmen to the panel and a welcoming back Sen. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) for another stint.
Freshmen Sens. Tim Scott (S.C.) and Jeff Flake (Ariz.) have joined the committee that oversees topics including offshore oil-and-gas drilling, Energy Department programs and an array of others.
Alexander returns after an absence. GOP senators leaving the panel are Rand Paul (Ky.), Dan Coats (Ind.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.).
Senate GOP leaders announced their full committee rosters for the new Congress on Thursday.
Democrats announced their rosters in December and similarly added a pair of freshmen to the energy panel.
On the Environment and Public Works Committee, the new GOP members will be Sen. Roger Wicker (Miss.) and freshman Sen. Deb Fisher (Neb.).
Sens. Alexander and Mike Johanns (Neb.) left the committee.
