News bites: White House push key for getting wind, other tax breaks into 'fiscal cliff' deal

Reuters takes a look at the role President Obama played in getting corporate tax breaks, such as one for the wind industry, into the “fiscal cliff” deal.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) national study on hydraulic fracturing appears to avoid investigating whether the process contaminates drinking water, according to The Associated Press.

The Baltimore Sun takes a look at how Maryland is considering regulating hydraulic fracturing.

In Canada, oil sands development in Alberta has led to higher levels of carcinogens in surrounding lakes, The New York Times reports.

Despite cutting subsidies, Germany added a record number of solar panels last year, Bloomberg notes.
