News bites: Electric vehicle struggles, pipeline battles, and more

Reuters takes a look at the struggles of the electric vehicle industry, while pointing to a new energy source of hope for automakers — hydrogen.

Bloomberg lays out some of the land battles occurring between property owners and pipeline builders.

Duke Energy will close two of its oldest North Carolina power plants, The Associated Press reports.

AP also details how solar energy developers are snatching up California farmland, and how some officials worry too much land is being taken out of agricultural use.

China’s two biggest oil firms are starting to take some of the blame for the nation’s air pollution problems, according to Reuters.
