News bites: Obama readies climate plans, getting North Dakota’s oil to market, and more

By Ben Geman - 02/06/13 07:41 AM ET

The Wall Street Journal looks at climate change proposals that may surface in President Obama’s State of the Union speech.

The Associated Press reports on Duke Energy’s decision to permanently close a troubled Florida nuclear plant.

AP also reports on a new Agriculture Department report about major changes in store for U.S. forests “as global warming increases wildfires and insect infestations, and generates more frequent floods and droughts.”

Bloomberg Businessweek
describes efforts to bring crude oil from North Dakota’s booming Bakken formation to East Coast refining markets.

BP alleges that claims over the BP spill sought by states and local governments are too high, Reuters reports.
