Reuters reports that Canadian officials are close to unveiling long-delayed rules on greenhouse gas emissions from the oil sands.
The move comes as Canada’s government is urging the White House to approve the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.

The New York Times examines looming political battles over energy in the Texas legislature, where the renewables industry has been thrown on the defensive.
“As the session progresses, renewable energy advocates are bracing to defend critical policies that have helped Texas become the leading wind-power state.
