News bites: BP trial update, Mayor Bloomberg’s climate campaign, and more

By Ben Geman - 03/13/13 05:13 AM ET

Bloomberg has the latest from the civil trial over the 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The New York Times reports from Ohio on natural-gas development.

The Wall Street Journal looks at efforts by Mexico's new president, Enrique Peña Nieto, to overhaul state-run oil giant Petróleos Mexicanos, which has seen a decline in production.

"He proposes to change the law to attract foreign investors — an about-face for a country that once nationalized its oil and barred foreign participation by constitutional amendment," the paper reports.

CBS reports on New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s work on climate change.

Reuters examines oil-and-gas giant Chevron’s plans for the future.

The Associated Press reports on bids to develop a promising oil field in southern Iraq.
