Hacked email controversy reaches Capitol Hill

By Ben Geman - 11/23/09 05:48 PM ET

Over at our Blog Briefing Room, Tony Romm notes that Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-Okla.) wants an investigation of climate change researchers following the release of years of emails from a prominent U.K. climate institute.

Climate skeptics – a camp that Inhofe is squarely in – say the hacked messages show that evidence undercutting the case for human-induced global warming has been squelched. The scientists that saw their private correspondence made public say the messages have been taken out of context and show no deception.
