A handy Copenhagen emissions calculator

By Ben Geman - 12/01/09 10:33 AM ET

Via the Climate Progress blog: an online calculator for making apples-to-apples comparisons of various nations’ 2020 emissions targets. It allows users to adjust the “baseline” year against which pledged greenhouse gas cuts are measured. That’s handy because different countries are using different baseline years. The U.S., for instance, is basing its targets on 2005 emissions levels, while the European Union is using a 1990 baseline.
