Barrasso attacks administration on climate finance, coal mining

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) is no fan of Obama administration environmental policy.
The most recent examples:
- Barrasso on Wednesday attacked the U.S. pledge offered at the Copenhagen climate talks to steer $1 billion into initiatives that slow and reverse deforestation in developing nations. He called it an example of "misplaced priorities."
“If the Obama Administration believes it has $1 billion to spare, why is it choosing to spend this money on forests in other countries instead of resolving problems at home?,” he said in a statement.

His comment highlights the resistance the administration could face on Capitol Hill to increasing climate aid to developing nations. Secretary of Sate Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday vowed to further boost the aid in an effort to jolt the faltering Copenhagen talks.
- Barrasso and seven other pro-coal senators allege the administration is putting up costly roadblocks to U.S. coal mining, and encroaching on states’ rights along the way.
