Obama to meet again with Chinese premier in Copenhagen

By Ben Geman - 12/18/09 01:55 PM ET

President Obama is holding a second meeting Friday evening – Copenhagen time – with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao as nations try and salvage some kind of agreement at the international climate summit.

The two met earlier Friday amid a rift between the two countries about the extent to which China will agree to outside verification of its pledged emissions curbs, and a White House official reported progress in “constructive” talks.

Obama is also taking part in further multilateral meetings following an unscheduled session earlier in the day at the conference, which has been marked by sharp differences over greenhouse gas emissions targets, finance for developing nations and other issues.
