Scientists to Farm Bureau: Let’s talk

By Ben Geman - 01/11/10 04:30 PM ET

A slew of scientists want to meet with the American Farm Bureau Federation over its stance on climate change.

The powerful agriculture group, which is stepping up its fight against climate legislation, isn't so sure that human activities are driving dangerous global warming.

“Because the agriculture community has much to lose and gain based on the actions our nation takes to address climate change, we request an opportunity to meet with you to discuss the latest climate science and your organization’s official climate change position,” states a Jan. 7 letter from 47 scientists organized by the Union of Concerned Scientists.
