ConocoPhillips taps Jim Ford for senior lobbying role
Oil giant ConocoPhillips announced Wednesday that it has hired Jim Ford to be a top lobbyist.
Ford formerly worked at the American Petroleum Institute for a decade, but was among the API officials who departed in a recent shake-up under President Jack Gerard, who took over at the end of 2008.
Ford is now vice president for federal government affairs at ConocoPhillips' Washington, D.C. office. He's again working under former API President Red Cavaney, who is now ConocoPhillips' senior VP for government affairs.
Ford will have plenty to do, ConocoPhillips said.
“In this role, he will be responsible for managing the company’s federal government affairs staff and coordinating federal advocacy efforts to advance the public policy interests of the company before all branches of the federal government,” ConocoPhillips said in announcing Ford’s hiring.
