House schedule, Jan. 5

House leaders released the following schedule for today:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2011



At 12:00 noon, the Clerk will call the House to order.

At roughly 12:05 p.m., there will be a Quorum Call Vote. This will be the first vote of the 112th Congress.

Following the Quorum Call, we will move into a manual roll call electing the Speaker of the House.  (This is expected to take about an hour.)

The Speaker will then be announced.

At this point, we are looking at roughly 2:00 p.m. when the minority leader will present the new Speaker, and the Speaker will address the House.

At approximately 2:25 p.m. the Speaker will administer the Oath of Office to members and delegates (All members will be on the floor for swearing in).

There will then be announcements of the leaders and the whips.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. we expect the House to move into debate on the House Rules package.

The second and final vote series of the day will begin around 4:00 p.m.

The House will adjourn at roughly 4:50 p.m.
