RSC: We stop kicking the ‘budget can’ down the road today

By Josiah Ryan - 01/20/11 05:50 PM ET

In preparation for spending fights next week, members of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC) laid out their plans to reduce the budget, perhaps below 2008 levels, in a press conference in the Capitol on Thursday.

The Hill's Erik Wasson has an excellent story on the details of the RSC’s plan.

“This is the day we stop kicking the can down the road and get our fiscal house in order,” said Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.). “A lot of us have been anxious to start cutting for a while. This represents a start.”

The following Republican congressmen participated in the press conference: James Lankford (Okla.), John Campbell (Calif.), Jim Jordan (Ohio), Scott Garrett (N.J.), Tom McClintock (Calif.), Mick Mulvaney (S.C.), Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Joe Walsh (Ill.).
