Dem leadership: Vote down the budget rule

By Josiah Ryan - 01/24/11 01:03 PM ET

In its morning whip report Democratic leadership urged its members to oppose a H.R. 43, which is the rule for a controversial resolution that will be taken up on Tuesday that would slash government spending for FY 2011 to levels of FY 2008 or below.

The whip report complained that Republicans will allow no amendments to the rule.

"Members are urged to vote no on the rule," said the whip report.

The report also complained about the ambiguous nature of the actual budget resolution.

"This ‘budget-less’ resolution has no number, or specified allocation," it said.
