House approves rule, moves to debate on campaign financing bill

By Pete Kasperowicz - 01/26/11 12:41 PM ET

The House just approved a modified open rule allowing for a one-hour debate on H.R. 359, which would end public financing of presidential campaigns. With the voice vote, the House has now moved to debate the bill and consider one germane amendment.

Democrats, who largely oppose the bill, have offered six amendments to the bill, but the House Parliamentarian found that only one amendment is germane.

Still awaiting word on which amendment will be taken up.
