Boehner rates Obama's SOTU as 'OK'

By Josiah Ryan - 01/26/11 12:53 PM ET

"OK," Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) replied when a reporter asked him at a press conference in the Capitol Wednesday morning how he would rate the president's State of the Union speech.

Cutting spending was the only aspect Boehner named when another reporter asked him to name parts of the speech on which he could rise to meet Obama.

During the speech Boehner's office furiously released press statements criticizing different aspects of the president's agenda.

Boehner also added that while he did not watch Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) alternate speech due to a "previous commitment," he would encourage all members to respond in their own way.

"I think all members responded to the president's speech last night in a lot of different ways," said Boehner. "The more the merrier."
