Lofgren resigns as ranking House Ethics Committee member

By Pete Kasperowicz - 01/26/11 03:19 PM ET

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) resigned yesterday from her post as ranking member of the House Committee on Ethics.

Her announcement was made official on the House floor just moments ago.

Lofgren had agreed to stay on as ranking member as part of the transition, but let Democrats know she wanted to be off the committee this year. In a statement yesterday, Lofgren said she resigned after Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) was selected to serve as ranking member.
