House settles in for more than five hours of debate on regs

By Pete Kasperowicz - 02/10/11 03:46 PM ET

The House on Thursday afternoon is expected to begin five and a half hours of debate on a resolution instructing House committees to look for regulations that impinge on business growth.

The chairman and ranking member of the Small Business Committee will start the debate, sharing 30 minutes, and five other committees will each share one hour: Energy and Commerce, Transportation & Infrastructure, Financial Services, Natural Resources and Ways & Means.

This is just part of the nine and half hours of debate on the resolution that is scheduled; the remainder will take place Friday.

Debate is expected to start after the House votes on the rule for the resolution, and a separate rule on a bill that extends Patriot Act surveillance authorities.
