House votes to strip funds for ethanol infrastructure

By Josiah Ryan - 02/19/11 02:31 AM ET

The House voted 261-168 early Saturday morning to block funding for installing blender pumps at gas stations that would be used to carry ethanol-blended fuels. The amendment was proposed by Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) who is a vocal opponent of ethanol subsidies.

The House began another series of 19 votes at around 1:05 a.m. on amendments proposed and debated throughout Friday night and Saturday morning.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) indicated earlier in the evening that the House would continue its marathon session until all amendments had been heard and recieved a vote.
