Good morning... getting ready for more budget fights

By Pete Kasperowicz - 02/22/11 11:10 AM ET

The House and Senate are both in recess this week and will need the rest, because next week has the potential for more late nights as both parties, and both Houses of Congress, wrestle with the FY 2011 budget.

Passage of the House early Saturday morning might have felt like work was getting done, but with Senate Democrats opposed, Congress and the White House will have just one week to figure out their differences. Because this is unlikely, a short-term budget extension is expected. But even this might be tricky because Republicans want to ensure even a short-term extension includes some cuts.

We will be looking for signs of what next week will bring, and we'll also be providing some vote analysis from the flurry of House budget votes last week. Stay tuned.
