Easy Monday: Pro forma in the House, speeches in the Senate

The pace of both chambers will pick up Tuesday. The House plans to move five suspension bills that day.

In the Senate, a cloture vote on that bill is expected late Tuesday afternoon, and if it fails, the Senate will hold a cloture vote on S. 679, the Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act.

At 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Senate will consider the nomination of Leon Panetta to be secretary of Defense, which involves two hours of debate and then a vote.
