House debates suspension bills, votes planned for Monday evening

By Pete Kasperowicz - 09/12/11 04:33 PM ET

The House on Monday afternoon debated three bills under a suspension of House rules, but will return to vote on these bills after a scheduled 6 p.m. event being held in tribute to the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

At 4 p.m., members briefly debated three bills, which met with no opposition in debate and should pass easily later tonight.

These bills are:

H.R. 2076, the Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act. This bill allows the Attorney General and Federal Bureau of Investigation to assist states in the investigation of violent crimes, and lets the AG pay rewards up to $3 million in these cases (the current maximum is $2 million).

H.R. 2633, the Appeal Time Clarification Act. This bill clarifies the time limits for appeals in civil cases in which federal employees are parties.

H.R. 1059, which is aimed at protecting the safety of judges by allowing certain information to be redacted from judges' financial disclosure reports.
