House rejects Dem amendments to NLRB bill
The House today turned away all four Democratic amendments to a bill aimed at overriding a National Labor Relations Board rule that would allow for faster union elections.
Rejected amendments were from:
Tim Bishop (D-NY), to give the NLRB the authority to impose sanctions against any party that makes frivolous filings during pre-election hearings. Failed 187-288.
Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa), to prohibit employers offering executive compensation bonuses about 10,000 percent of the compensation of the average employee from raising any issues during pre-election hearings. Failed 181-239.
Tim Walz (D-Minn.), prohibit employers liable from labor law violations against a veteran in the one year preceding a petition filing from raising issues during a pre-election hearing. Failed 200-221.
Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), strike language in the bill giving employees time to educate themselves about unionization. Failed 188-236.
