Republicans propose cuts to schools that provide access to 'morning-after pill'

"This is a common sense bill to protect our school age girls from accessing powerful drugs from their school health clinics, without notice or consent from parents," Lamborn said in a statement to The Hill. "Some of these 'emergency contraceptives' can increase a girl's risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clotting. In some cases, they cause abortion."

The Schoolchildren's Health Protection Act, H.R. 4046, is co-sponsored by 23 other House Republicans, including current GOP presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (Texas), and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), who until recently was a candidate for the presidency.
