RSC chair Jordan to Obama: Send 'cliff' legislation to Congress
Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Friday called on President Obama to take the lead on avoiding the "fiscal cliff" by submitting a legislative proposal to Congress.
Jordan released a statement after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Obama has an historic chance to resolve the fiscal cliff — the combination of tax increases and spending cuts set to hit in January that most economists say will crush the U.S. economy.
"Speaker Boehner is absolutely right," Jordan said. "It's time for President Obama to show he can lead.
Jordan said that while Obama says he has a plan, Congress will need to "see it in the form of actual legislation" for Congress to consider.
"Speeches and talking points do not solve problems," he said. "Send us a bill."
