Boehner to swear in three new House members today
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will swear in three new members of the House on Tuesday — David Curson (D-Mich.), Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).
Curson won a special election last week against Kerry Bentivolio (R), and as the winner, will work for the remainder of former Rep. Thaddeus McCotter's (R) term. McCotter resigned unexpectedly this year, just before it was reported that his staff was involved in efforts to forge signatures needed to keep McCotter on the ballot.
But Curson will not hold the seat in the next Congress, as Bentivolio won the general election.
DelBene will fill the seat left vacant by Rep. Jay Inslee (D), who won his race to become Washington state's governor. And Massie won a special election to fill the seat of Rep. Geoff Davis, who resigned because of a family health issue.
The three new members are expected to be sworn in after a series of votes on suspension bills early Tuesday evening.
