Rep. Buerkle's campaign office burglarized

By Pete Kasperowicz - 11/20/12 09:53 AM ET

Less than two weeks after losing her reelection bid, Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (R-N.Y.) reported that her campaign headquarters was burglarized over the weekend.

According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, the thief made off with computers, a television, a printer and other valuables. The theft was discovered Monday morning and reported to the police.

Buerkle's chief of staff, Tim Drumm, said police have some "pretty good footage" of the burglar — police describe him as a black man somewhere between 28 and 40 years old, according to the Post-Standard.

Buerkle lost to returning Rep.-elect Dan Maffei (D) on Nov. 6.

The offices of several members of Congress have been broken into over the last few months. In September, several Capitol Hill offices reported theft, and in November, the district office of Rep. Hansen Clarke (D-Mich.) and the home of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) were burglarized.
