

Monday: Suspensions, Sandy relief, Newtown speeches
The House meets at noon for speeches, many of which can be expected to focus on Friday's shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.
In the afternoon, members will start legislative work on two suspension bills, with votes expected at 6:30 p.m. After votes, members may continue talking about the Newtown shooting into the evening. The suspension bills are:
H.R. 4606, which authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to issue right-of-way permits for natural gas pipelines in the Glacier National Park in Montana, and
The Senate meets at 2 p.m. and is also expected to discuss the shooting. Senators are also expected to start debating an amended H.R. 1, providing billions of dollars in additional funds to help with the cleanup from Hurricane Sandy.
At 5 p.m., the Senate will debate the nominations of Fernando Olguin to be a U.S. District judge for the Central District of California, and Thomas Durkin to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. Votes are expected at 5:30 p.m.
