Tuesday: Iran in the House, Sandy relief in the Senate

By Pete Kasperowicz - 12/18/12 09:28 AM ET

The House meets at 10 a.m. for speeches, then at noon for work on up to seven suspension bills, including one aimed at thwarting Iran's policy goals in the Western Hemisphere.

Votes on some or all of these bills are expected to start at the end of the day.

The suspension bills are:

H.R. 6504, the Small Business Investment Company Modernization Act,

H.R. 3783, the Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act, as amended by the Senate

S. 3331, the Intercountry Adoption Universal Accreditation Act

H.R. 6621, to correct and improve certain provisions of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act and title 35, United States Code

H.R. 6671, to clarify that a video rental company can obtain a consumer's informed, written consent to post that consumer's video rental preferences,

H.R. 6014, the Katie Sepich Enhanced DNA Collection Act, and

S. 3642, the Theft of Trade Secrets Clarification Act.

The Senate meets at 10 a.m., and will continue work on H.R. 1, which is the vehicle for the Obama administration's proposed $60 billion supplemental spending bill. Democrats are pressing for the bill to help fund relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy, while some Republicans charge that the bill contains billions in extraneous funds that are not related to Sandy cleanup efforts.
