Tuesday: Budget deficit, tobacco smuggling, committee budgets

By Pete Kasperowicz - 03/05/13 09:33 AM ET

The House starts at 10 a.m., and at noon it will consider two suspension bills. They are:

H.R. 668, requiring presidential budgets to include estimates of the cost of the deficit per taxpayer, and,

H.R. 338, the Stop Tobacco Smuggling in the Territories Act, which applies U.S. anti-tobacco smuggling laws to U.S. territories.

The House is in for a quick day — voting is expected to finish by mid-afternoon.

The Senate meets at 10 a.m., and before noon it will take up a resolution that outlines Senate committee budgets for the rest of the fiscal year.

Shortly after noon, the Senate is expected to vote on an amendment to this resolution, S.Res. 64, from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). That amendment would amend language related to the Senate's National Security Working Group.

Passage of the resolution could take place later Tuesday.
