House honors Lautenberg with resolution, tribute from NJ members

The House passed the resolution by unanimous consent, and after several members of the New Jersey delegation spoke on the House floor about Lautenberg.

"Sen. Lautenberg was always there for the little guy," Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) said. "Many of you know he was a wealthy individual, but he never forgot his roots, and they were very humble roots.

"And he always believed that the Congress should be there for people in need."

Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) said members would speak about Lautenberg in more detail in a special order speech in the House next week.
