Blumenauer cited severe weather patterns in Iowa as more evidence of climate change. He said Iowa has had record flooding, drought and early spring snow over the last five years.

"In half a decade, Iowa saw the worst flooding and the worst drought in over a century of record keeping," he said. "This is what climate change will look like, and it will get worse and more extreme.

"This is what climate change means — the wrong weather at the wrong time," he added. "The science is real, and the time for action is now."
