Blumenauer cited severe weather patterns in Iowa as more evidence of climate change. He said Iowa has had record flooding, drought and early spring snow over the last five years.
"This is what climate change means — the wrong weather at the wrong time," he added. "The science is real, and the time for action is now."
Blumenauer spoke just days after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he agrees that flooding in Colorado is a sign of climate change.
"Climate change is here," he said. "We're doing nothing about it."
