This rule would be enforced by a 10 percent cut to salaries and expenses for the head of each agency that does not issue rules requiring participation in ObamaCare by covered officials.
"My position remains that ObamaCare must be repealed," said Rep. Bill Posey (R-Fla.), the sponsor of the bill. "That said, this bill is a big step in holding accountable the unelected Washington officials making countless decisions affecting the cost of and access to health care for millions of Americans.
"It is common sense that regulators will be extra judicious in their actions knowing that they must live under the regulations they are imposing on the rest of America."
Posey introduced his bill just as the House and Senate are expected to spend the next week wrestling over a House-passed continuing spending bill for 2014 that defunds ObamaCare. Senate Democrats are expected to hold a procedural vote by Wednesday to proceed to the bill, after which Democrats will try to strip the ObamaCare language from the House bill.
Reps. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) and Jeff Miller (R-Fla.) are cosponsors of Posey's bill.
