Over the weekend, the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 in the sixth game of the series. Boston now advances to the World Series games, where the team will play the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday night.

Kildee praised the Tigers for meaning more than just baseball to his battered state, which has had its share of economic trouble.

“Tigers have always meant more than just baseball,” Kildee said. “Tiger baseball has provided hope and instilled a sense of pride in the city and the state that has surely seen its share of difficulties. … I love my Detroit Tigers and appreciate all they mean to Michigan.”
