GOP convention’s mystery speaker remains a secret

By Ramsey Cox - 08/30/12 11:23 AM ET

Republican National Convention staff remained tight-lipped about the identity of the mystery guest speaker slotted for Thursday night.

Romney campaign strategist Russ Schriefer wouldn’t confirm if actor-director Clint Eastwood, the former mayor of Carmel, Calif., would be speaking at the GOP convention at 10 p.m. in Tampa, Fla., Thursday.

“If there is a mystery speaker, [then] it wouldn’t be a mystery anymore,” Schriefer said when asked if it is Eastwood and why it is being kept a secret.

Fox News reported that one Republican source told the network Eastwood was indeed the mystery speaker who will endorse Romney on Thursday night before he takes the stage to accept the Republican presidential nomination.
