Reagan tribute will start off Thursday night's events
On Thursday, the Republican National Convention will get start the night with a video tribute to President Ronald Reagan.
Romney campaign strategist Russ Schriefer told reporters on a conference call that a short video honoring the service of Reagan would start the evening’s events in Tampa, Fla.
Following the video, former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) and his wife, Callista, will speak about Reagan and what he’s done for the Republican Party.
Schriefer said the rest of the evening, which is themed “We Believe in America,” will be about telling GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s personal story.
But before introducing Romney’s story to viewers, former Gov. Jeb Bush (Fla.) will talk about education — something Schriefer said fits well with Thursday’s theme.
