Democratic platform sticks with Obama campaign slogan

By Ramsey Cox - 09/04/12 12:14 PM ET

The Democratic platform stayed loyal to President Obama’s 2012 campaign slogan, “Forward.”

In the platform, the phrases “moving forward” or “moving the country forward” were used 16 times.

“We Democrats offer America the opportunity to move our country forward by creating an economy built to last and built from the middle out,” the platform states under the section titled, “Moving America Forward.”

Obama released the campaign slogan, “Forward,” this spring.

“The United States continues to move forward towards a future of strong and sustained growth,” the platform concludes. “Thanks to the leadership of President Obama and Democrats around the country, we’re fighting back from the deepest economic crisis since the Great Depression by making investments to create jobs, grow the middle class, and lay the foundations for an economy that out-educates, out-builds, and out-innovates the rest of the world.”

The Democratic platform was released Monday evening, and will be formally accepted at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., around 6 p.m. Tuesday by Rep. Barbara Lee (Calif.).
