McCain visits ND to help Senate candidate Berg, talk unmanned aircraft systems

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) travels to North Dakota on Thursday to visit University of North Dakota’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) programs and campaign for Republican Senate candidate Rep. Rick Berg.

Berg is running against former North Dakota Attorney General and Democrat Heidi Heitkamp to replace retiring Sen. Kent Conrad (D).

Romney helps Senate candidate Rehberg in Mont. TV ad

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney appears in a TV ad endorsing Montana U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.).

The Missoulian reported Tuesday that in the ad Romney says Rehberg will help “get our fiscal house in order.”

Feinstein faults Obama, GOP senators for legislative stalemate

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Tuesday that President Obama shares the blame with Senate Republicans for the legislative stalemate.

The Fresno Bee reported Feinstein told the editorial board that her Republican colleagues have used parliamentary procedures for the past two years to stymie Obama's agenda, but that Obama could do more to move his plans ahead.

McCain campaigns for Romney in Michigan

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) campaigned for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Michigan on Tuesday night.

The Detroit Free Press reported that McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, slammed President Obama’s record.

“I was worried about this country when I lost in 2008,” McCain said. “But my worst expectations were realized. We have to have Mitt Romney.”

W.Va. senators welcome federal help for recovery from Hurricane Sandy

West Virginia Sens. John Rockefeller (D) and Joe Manchin (D) said Tuesday that they're working closely with government officials to ensure that the state gets resources to recover from Hurricane Sandy.

“I will remain in close contact with state and federal officials to make sure that our state has the resources we need to recover from this storm,” Manchin said in a statement Tuesday. “As I know you are, [my wife] Gayle and I are praying for anyone in the storm’s path, both in our state and across our nation. We also thank our brave first responders who are working hard to keep all of us safe.”

Utah Democrats say a vote for Hatch is a vote for deadly firms

The Utah Democratic Party said a vote for incumbent Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) is essentially a vote for death, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

The Tribune reported that state Democrats issued a news release Monday saying Hatch has accepted campaign donations from the world’s most deadly corporations, as listed on the website brainz.org. The release also said Hatch voted in ways that favored the corporations on several occasions.

Poll: Bob Kerrey tightens Senate race against Deb Fischer in Nebraska

Democrat Bob Kerrey was only 3 percentage points behind Republican Deb Fischer Monday in their quest to replace retiring Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.).

The Omaha World-Herald Poll of 800 registered Nebraska voters showed a huge jump for the Democrat after he started running an ad campaign attacking Fischer’s character. Five weeks ago he was behind her by 10 points.

Rubio calls Conn. voters to aid Linda McMahon's Senate bid

The New Haven Register reported that Rubio’s robocall for McMahon started Saturday.

McConnell to campaign for Mourdock in Indiana's Senate race

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will campaign for Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock in Indiana on Monday.

The Associated Press reported that McConnell would join Mourdock in Indianapolis on Monday night to raise money and watch the final presidential debate between President Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

Durbin visits 'Bainport' protesters ahead of presidential election

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) visited the “Bainport” protest camp in Freeport, Ill., on Tuesday.

Workers who will lose their jobs in November have formed a “Bainport” encampment, a small tent city across the street from the Sensata Technologies plant in Freeport, Ill. The Sensata employees say GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Bain Capital, the financial firm he co-founded, are responsible for their jobs being shipped overseas to China.
