Good morning ... FAA and Egypt

By Pete Kasperowicz - 01/31/11 09:44 AM ET

The House is out all week, and the Senate returns today at 2 p.m.

Last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the chamber would begin work on a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorization bill, S. 223. This is Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller's (D-W.Va.) bill, which is the same as one the Senate approved last year.

But we also expect to see some Senate reaction to the protests in Egypt, which did not let up over the weekend. Several members of Congress called on Hosni Mubarak's government not to use violence against the pro-democracy protesters, and we would expect those calls to pick up today once the Senate convenes.
