Senate wrap

The Senate adjourned at about 7:30 p.m., after approving three substantive resolutions by unanimous consent. The three are S.Res. 42, which assigns Democrats to Senate committees, S.Res. 43, which assigns Republicans to Senate committees, and S.Res. 44.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said S.Res. 44 is a resolution "supporting democracy, universal rights, and the peaceful transition to a representative government in Egypt." Senate aides said this is the same resolution that Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) discussed earlier tonight.

The Senate will reconvene at 10 a.m. Friday morning, but no votes are planned tomorrow.
