Retired-Sen.Craig joins Idaho delegation to honor deceased senator

By Josiah Ryan - 02/28/11 08:02 PM ET

Retired Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was on the Senate floor Monday afternoon to honor Sen. Jim McClure (R-Idaho), who died Saturday after complications from a stroke.

Craig, who won McLure's seat in 1990 after McClure retired, joined fellow Idaho Republican Sens. Jim Risch and Mike Crapo to honor the late lawmaker.

Following speeches by Crapo and Risch, the Senate passed a resolution by unanimous consent honoring McClure, who served in the Senate nearly 25 years.

Craig retired in 2009 after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after he was arrested for lewd conduct in the men's restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

By tradition former-senators are extended floor privileges in both the House and Senate.
