McConnell: Obama’s latest budget proposal ‘outrageous’
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday dubbed “outrageous” the latest budget proposal put forth by the White House.
“It’s outrageous,” McConnell said in a floor speech. “They say their proposal meets us halfway.”
McConnell was referring to an administration budget proposal that would cut an additional $6.5 billion from the budget for the remainder of fiscal year 2011.
McConnell continued by quoting editorials that labeled the proposal “disingenuous” and “nonsense.” Another said the plan required taxpayers to “suspend disbelief.”
“Amid all the fanfare yesterday what the White House proposed is … another attempt to maintain the status quo,” said McConnell.
The Senate is in session Friday, but votes are not being held.
