Inhofe: Senate Dems have 'stalled long enough'
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) on Thursday explained his vote against the just-passed three-week budget resolution by saying that Democrats had "stalled long enough."
"Congress is long past due to enact a budget for the remainder of the fiscal year,” Inhofe in a statement released after the vote. “While I support the spending cuts in the short-term continuing resolution, I cannot continue to vote for anything less than a long-term funding plan."
Inhofe was one of nine Republicans who voted against the measure. Three Democrats and one Independent also opposed it.
Inhofe added that he believes the short-term approach to government spending is harming the military's ability to wage war.
“We cannot continue to piecemeal federal government spending at only weeks at a time," said Inhofe. "Having spent the entire week hearing defense officials, including General David Petraeus, testify that the short-term approach to funding the government is hurting the management of the Department of Defense as well as the ability of our soldiers in the field."
