Senate leadership plans to lie low with another 'jobs bill' after break

The EDA funding bill is the fourth such piece of non-controversial jobs-related legislation called up this year.

So far, the Senate has considered a funding bill for the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Patent Office and a bill to fund the Small Business Administration for eight more years.

Each of these bills lingered on the Senate floor for weeks as senators waged low-intensity battles over amendments, many of which had nothing to do with the underlying legislation.

The Senate began a 10-day break for the Memorial Day holiday on Thursday night.
