Durbin challenges McConnell to name sacrifices GOP will make to reach deficit deal

"Sen. McConnell ... wants the American people to think the Republicans are negotiating in good faith," said Durbin from the Senate floor. "He said we showed a willingness to sacrifice all along even as we made it crystal clear from the outset that tax increases would not be part of the agreement."

"So I have to ask — what is it that the Republicans are willing to sacrifice in this debate?" asked Durbin.

Durbin also said he wanted to know which "tough choices" Republicans would make in order to reach a compromise.

Earlier in the day McConnell delivered a rebuke to Democrats for insisting on tax hikes in any deficit-reduction deal.
