Senate confirms Mueller as FBI director for additional two-year term

Prior to the confirmation vote, a number of senators came to the floor to praise Mueller for his service.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that even though the FBI has not operated perfectly since Mueller took over, the director has worked hard to improve the agency and deal honestly with congressional oversight.

I appreciate his candor and I believe the FBI is in good hands with his leadership, Grassley said.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) also praised Mueller.

I truly believe he represents the highest and the best ideals of American patriotism, Sessions said.

Muellers current term expires Aug. 2.
